Citations and DOI

All citations must be italicized

OBLIGATION TO USE THE DOI

The DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is currently the most important means of confirmation that a given academic article published online is unique, and at the same time it assigns a unique Internet address to the text, ensuring that it cannot be deleted and providing quick access to it, which considerably facilitates work with academic texts. The DOI is usually provided in the header of a given text.

The authors are obliged to cite the DOIs in footnotes and in the reference list.

Example of a footnote featuring a DOI:

a) citation of a journal that has an electronic version:

A. Author, Title of article, “Title of journal" 2012, issue[MU1]  38, p. 23, [online:] www.website.pl/academicarticle, doi 10/1012.121.12

b) citation of an internet source:

A. Author, Title of article [online:] www.website.pl/article, doi: 10/1012.123.53

CAUTION: Not all periodicals accessible on the Internet have a DOI assigned to them. The requirement to provide a DOI applies only to those articles and books for which a DOI is available.

Internet content (e.g. articles and books stored in various digital libraries) for which a DOI is not available are to be quoted according to previous principles (see above, “Internet article”).
